Recently in a forum post I was asked if websites were better generalized or specialized.
The post was in regards to Paper Shredder Reviews , which is a fairly specialized site.
This is a great question. Here is my answer.
The Short Answer:
Depends on your time and resources.
If you have lots of time and resources create the larger more general site.
If your resources are limited create the smaller niche
site.

Google Wave is not SEO or web design exaclty but it is a cool new product that will help friends and teams collaborate.
Google Wave is a web based communication system accessed through your browser. It allows users to create a new "Wave" where any topic can be discussed. In the wave you can add new text, edit others notes, add images, map info, and tweets. The wave allows real time updates from multiple people and multiple sources.

Are there more paid extensions than free extensions for Joomla?
Do you have to spend money on extensions to get a good Joomla site?
This topic come up a few times recently.
There are many more paid extensions than before. There are also many more Joomla extensions than before. Is having more paid extension options a bad thing?
It may depend on your situation. Can you create your site without spending more money than you want to? If you are
setting up a personal or community site and have a limited budget the more advanced components will seem expensive. If you are a business or have money to spend
then Joomla is an excellent, low cost option meeting all of
your needs.
Perhaps another way to look at paid Joomla extensions: Has the paid extension business model allowed developers to create better extensions? Do the fuller feature better supported commercial extenstions make Joomla a better plaftorm? If the extensions were not built around a paid business model would the extension even exist today?
What do you think?

We are always looking for the best, most efficient way to manage Joomla. Recently we researched the methods to manage meta data in Joomla 1.5. We found two main options: sh404 meta management and the SEF Patch from Joomlatwork.

For those new to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and website
development, SEO can appear very challenging. There are many aspects
to an optimized page.
Do not worry. As the concepts become familiar, the process
becomes manageable. You also realize that there is no "magic bullet"
that gets your site to the top. Much of SEO is attention to detail, time, and effort.
Climbing to the top of search engine result pages is a slow steady
process. It takes effort and time, when you are there the view is
worth it.

Following in the theme of our favorite Joomla extensions is RSForm Pro from RSJoomla. RSForm is a form creation component that will fit almost any set of requirements. We use RSForm Pro on both personal and client websites. In fact it is our default go to form extension.

Ever need to display the content of a module in an article?
I have, and Joomla provides this functionality.
Just add {loadposition left} or what ever module position you want to
display directly to your article. The article now displays with the embedded module information.
I have recently found a plugin that does an even better job: Modules in Content.
