Customize Appearance Settings

1. In your tumblr dashboard slect your theme at the top right
2. Select Customize appearance on the right side

3. You will now be on the ‘Customize Apperance’ page. Changing the title here  will Change your logo text.

4. The description here will show in the footer in the About section as shown below in point 28. As you make these changes remember to click the green save button at the very top.

5. You have 10 options here to change the color in various sections of the template. It is suggested you experiment with these colors as to understand what changes are applied where.

6. You have 5 settings for font selection across the site. This is also something to experiment with.

7. Here you can upload a banner for your site. If a image is uploaded it will automaticaly show, as soon as it is cleared this space will collapse.

8. This option will display a large portrait image in the footer. See point 32 below.
9. This option will also display a image in the footer but is reserved for a logo image. Point 15 below also gives you the option to show this image in the header bar as a logo. If point 15 is selected the image will not show in the footer.

10. You have 3 options here to set the width of the site. Options provided are 740px, 840px and 940px.

NOTE: It is important to remember that One of these options must be selected. Only one option can be selected at a time.

11. These three options change the font size of the logo. Options include 30px, 40px and 50px.

NOTE: It is important to choose only one option. One option must be selected.

12. The template is centered by default. If this option is un-checked, the site will left align.

13. Will apply a nice collapse effect to the notes on a single post page. Will always have the option to click show and hide.

14. You can specify in the advanced settings how many posts to show per page. This setting will over-ride that option and allow for infinite scroll down on one page till you reach your oldest post.

15. This Option will take the Logo image uploaded from point 9 from the footer and move it to the header logo section. If this option is selected the font based logo from point 3, and the slogan from point , will be disabled.

16. Select this option if you want to show the Archive and RSS icons. It will also show the contact button if you enable it in your dashboard setting, see point 18 below.
17. Will display the random post Icon if selected.

18. Head back to your tumblr dashboard, and click on the green settings tab on the right.
19. In the ‘Ask’ section, select both check boxes, and give the ‘Ask’ page a title. Once this is done go back into editing your template by clicking ‘customize appearance’ above the right green button. A small contact icon will now show in your Header Menu Icons.

20. This option will allow labels to your icons as shown in the above picture.

21. This option will show the search box in the header.

22. Any pages that you create will display if this option is toggled.

23. Will style your first line in a description or caption to be a header. You must make this first line bold in order for it to work.

24. Will show the photo exif data including: Camera, Aperture, Exposure and Focal Length.

25. Photo Giant Theme comes with its own sleek photoset display. If you want to use the default tumblr photoset display then toggle this option on.

26. When this option is enabled, it will scale your images to fit the page perfectly. If your images are larger or smaller then the space available, the will alter to fit the width specified in step 10.

27. Will give a rounded corner to your posts.

28. If this option is toggled it will show the description you added at point 4, in the footer about section.
29. Will show the heading for the about section

30. Will show the blogs you are following when toggled
31. Search box will show in the footer.
32. Shows the portrait image you uploaded in point 8 above.
33. Your pages can be toggled to show in the footer.

35. Will show other tumblr blog posts that you liked in the footer (Your Likes section).

Note: You must have your twitter account information added and enabled in the dashboard settings
37. Show your twitter profile text.
38. Decide what will be the default text for your search boxes in both the header and footer.
39. Decide how many of your tweets to show.
Note: This can be a maximum of 4.
40. Decide how many rows of Avatars you wish to display in the following position.

41. If a phrase is entered it will display under the logo in the header

42. Add your own text to the footer copyright text.
43. Change the header for the ‘Liked’ posts.
