So you have installed Joomla 1.5, now what? Here are 5 extenstions that I always add to improve the core functionality of Joomla 1.5.
- JCE (Joomla Content Editor) -- a better WYSIWYG editor
- Mass Content -- Add new Sections / Categories / Articles quickly and easily
- sh404SEF -- Search Engine Friendly URLS and other SEO enhancements
- xMap -- a full featured site map
- Joomlapack -- Backup and Restore your site
JCE Joomla Content Editor
The default Joomla WSISWG editor does a good job, but i have found that
JCE does a better one. They have great functionality for adding
images, roll over images, and linking to joomla categories and articles. There are many additional plugins availble to assist with specific tasks.

Mass Content
If you have ever set up a large site you know how time consuming setting up all of the Sections, Categories and Articles can be. Mass content allows you to create multiple in one step. Now all you need is your list of content items, about 5 minutes, and mass content and you have the frame work of you site created.

sh404SEF
We have all see the long non SEO urls that joomla can produce, well sh404SEF solves this problem. sh404SEF can also place <h1> tags in all content items and create unique page titles.

xMap is a great extenstion that will automatically generate a sitemap

Joomlapack allows your to back up all the files and mySQL database for you Joomla site. You can then down load this back up to use for disaster recovery, roll back to an older version or transfer the site from one server to the next. Before using Joomla pack it was a long manual process to ftp all of the files down and then back up, then export and import the database. Joomlapack makes all of these
