If you work with Joomla sites long enough you have the need to add a module position or two to get the functionality required. Adding a new module position can seem complicated but it is actually pretty simple.  Only two template files are modified in the process.

The more html and css you know the better the process will be. 

I have built and continue to build lots of Joomla sites.  Experience and a need for efficiency, have lead me to develop a system that allows me to quickly create new Joomla web sites with all my favorite extensions pre-configured.

This systems uses a Joomla install as a base or a seed site.  All standard components are added and configured here.  Then JoomlaPack is used to back up and restore the site to a new location.  The seed site is then kept up to date with security fixes and code updates.

It is my opinion that jReviews is the best review extension and sh404SEF is the best SEF component.  However they do not always work the best together.  This article describes how I make the best of both worlds.

There are many template clubs availble for joomla and other popular CMS.  So the big question is:  How do you select the best template for your site?  There are many excellent templates available and you will need to have a system that eliminates inappropriate templates.

Fireboard is a great forum component for Joomla and their developers have made it very easy to incorportate adsense into your forums. 

There are two main steps to add the Adsense Code to your Joomla / Fireboard web site.
1. Add the needed module positions to your joomla installation
2. Install an adsense module and publish your adsense code to module position you just created.

While building the Intown Web Design site I had the need to fade out images.  So I learned about and used a cool tool in Fireworks.  It is the Fade Image command.  This tool created  the image fade for the lower half of all header images.
